cupcakes!

October 9, 2006

Some of you may have figured that cupcakes–particularly baking cupcakes–has been one of the foremost things on my mind lately. I've researched on the internet about the New York cupcake wars (Magnolia vs. Buttercup Bakeshop, plus Buttercup vs. former employees who put up their own shops). I've asked Kapi to visit West Coast cupcake shops (Sprinkles in Beverly Hills, and Citizen Cupcake [love that name!] in San Francisco). I knew the time was right to bring cupcakes to Manila.

And with the recent opening of Cupcakes by Sonja in Serendra (yeah, swanky swanky), I guess I was proven right.

Anyway.

It's still not stopping me from selling my own cupcakes. Home bakers, unite!

***

Let me thus introduce you to chipper cupcakes, which will be offering gift boxes of 4, 6, and 12 cupcakes just in time for the holiday season. Everybody falls for the cuteness of cupcakes–but one bite of these babies will have you hooked. I promise.

Some samples of what I make:

Green Tea Cupcakes
(A light, refreshing cake made with real Japanese Matcha powder, topped with green tea buttercream frosting)

Chocolate Bliss
(This extra-moist cake is made with real 70% cocoa chocolate–I only use Lindt or Valrhona–and frosted by a rich dark chocolate ganache. No confectioners sugar on this baby.)

They may be out of  focus, but still pretty.

Other flavors, pictures and prices coming soon:

  • Manila Vanilla (muscovado-sugar sweetened cakes with vanilla buttercream)
  • Coconut Lychee (East meets West in this refreshing, whipped-cream-topped cake)
  • Red Velvet (a favorite of the American South. Rich red cocoa-flavored cake with tart cream cheese frosting.)
  • Chai Tea (Yes, chai tea! A spicy, fragrant, dense cake that lives up to its name. Topped with cream cheese frosting.)
